Well, I am back at home now, after house sitting the long weekend.

Monday was pretty lazy, bummed around really, didn't do much at all. Went to uni to use the computers, had a chat to Jess, went home, went to Broadway for shopping. I bought some kangaroo sausages to see what they were like, not too bad but not a distinguishing taste compared to regular ones, just.... different.

I read a book by Patricia D. Cornwell, the Book of the Dead I think, I hadn't read it before though I have read pretty much everything up to that one, following the main characters of Kay Scarpetta, Lucy, Marino and Benton. I found it really confusing and hard to read for the first several chapters of it. The writing was rather jumbled to me, and jumped a lot, with conversation quite difficult to grasp the situation at hand, but as it went on, it did settle down and I was able to figure out what was going on in the storyline, but to me, the ending was predicted. An okay read but not as good as some of her previous books in my opinion. I also watched Border Patrol on tv. Like I said, it was pretty much a lazy day.

Today, I did the laundry as usual when I leave the house, made the bed etc, cleaned up, and then popped off to Bondi Beach. I can't ever actually remember going to Bondi Beach since I moved down to Sydney.... I'm such a tourist in the city I live LOL. Anyway, I caught a train with Kendo people to Bondi Junction, then a bus down to the main strip. We had some lunch before getting down to the sand and surf. Although the day itself was rather overcast, it wasn't too hot or cool really, just grey. I didn't bring swimmers with me, but I did go stick my feet into the surf and some of the guys tried to drag me into the water fully dress LOL but with no success haha. The group also proceeded to compete against this other asian mob of people who had built a pyramid, so of course not to be outdone, we made a sphinx. It actually turned out quite well, to the point where people were stopping to check it out, very impressive indeed. We caught a bus back into the city as it started to rain in the late afternoon. I'm not exactly sure if I got sunburnt or not though, but I went home instead of hanging out with the rest of them.

And thus was the day.

I saw on the tv, and also in the paper that the Famous 5 by Enid Blyton is getting a 'modern' revamping. Disney is planning to have a new series of the Famous 5, in cartoon format, but the main character are actually the offspring of the original Famous 5. I think that is pretty shabby. Having read a majority of the stories and books by Enid, I think it is almost to the point blasphemy in a non-religious sense of the word. The new kids will be hip, using ipods, mobile phones etc to solve their mysteries, like discovering a pirate dvd facility (according to the paper)..... I would prefer my kids to read the originals than to watch the cartoon, and the same with all of the other series written by Enid Blyton since they are timeless classics that fire up the imagination and adventure.

Still nothing is happening on the job front, and I applied for another position today, with a food ingredients R&D company for bakery products. 2 years experience in food R&D, tertiary qualifications in food technology or related. I think I suit it in some way. The only thing is, I don't know what the conditions are like, nor the pay ~shrug~ but it's still a job.

I was also thinking of perhaps doing what someone I know did a while back, go over and teach English for a year or something in another country. I did a search on TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, or something like that?), and found that I could do some courses to qualify myself, but at ~$2600 for the course, it be mighty pricey, practically a semesters fee at uni, and I still owe a good $32k in HECS/HELP debt LOL. I think though if I did chuck a bunk and do it, I'd prefer South Korea (duh, not going to North Korea....) and Japan, so I can teach English, and also soak up some Kendo LOL. Who knows, I guess if the job front gets frustrating enough, I could do that, or perhaps take up the Camp America stuff that is always around......
