Aich, if I had been drinking like the rest of them, I think I could say that I'd have a headache right now. Or what you mean to be said as a hangover, but thankfully that I don't drink much. Let's recap the events of Saturday.

Saturday morning, I had been anticipating the meeting between myself and my school friends who were going to be in Sydney for a weekend. They had left me a message on facebook to let me know that they were in town and wanted to catch up, as well as see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I was fine and dandy with that because I had wanted to see it on Friday but I didn't manage to generate enough interest to see it with Kendo people I guess.

I woke up early, bummed around on DDO and waited and waited until he called me. It was already pretty late in the morning and the problem was that because of the amount of time it takes for me to get into the city, it didn't really leave much leeway at all. We decided on the 1:40pm session at the George St cinemas and I rushed off to catch the 12:22pm train from my area. I got in on time to discover that they were running late. I hadn't had lunch, and with the movie being 2h5m long, I ducked into KFC and bought something light eat and ate it while chatting to one of them who came out ahead to get the tickets and let me know that they were running late. We did get in late but they were still showing the previews so that was ok.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett.

The last instalment of the Indiana Jones 'trilogy' by Stephen Spielburg, with help from George Lucas.

The plot finds a considerably older Henry Jones Jnr being embroiled in a strange case where the Russians/Eastern Europeans are after something stored in a very very large secret site in the middle of the Nevada desert in 1957 (Area 51 anyone?). This then leads on a merry chase around the world and ending up in South America, with the fable of the Lost City of Gold, and a 'crystal skull' that is the key to the whole mystery.

The plot is a little sketchy to say sometimes, but the action sequences are great, as to be expected from a Indiana Jones movie. Cinematography and special effects were top level as usual, though some of it was over the top I guess, being a blockbuster that they had to continually top what had come before. The dialogue was very witty in many parts and quite entertaining.

The ending is, different. If you have seen National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets, then you will have considerably different view presented here in relation to the Lost City of Gold (anyone remember the cartoon??). If you don't like science fiction, but you like the adventure of Indy movies, then you may be a little put out. otherwise, you probably should take the movie for what it is, a guys action film showing an aged, but yet still relatively immortal hero, who has human frailties.

Much enjoyed it, but I thought Iron Man was still better because I still want to go back to see Iron Man LOL.
8.5/10

Anyway, after Indiana Jones, I caught the first train back home to have a quick shower, throw some jackets into the car and drive off to Lidcombe to meet the rest of the people for dinner. We gathered up eventually ~sigh, Eventually~ and trekked the few hundred meters to the Catholic RSL Club called Dooleys that was in the area. Man, try getting 26 or so people into their restaurant wasn't going to happen so we all came back outside and ended up on the other side of the railway line having Vietnamese and invading this very small pho shop hahaha, I'm sure they didn't mind our boisterousness because of the business we gave them. I had a simple chicken pho, and a three bean coconut ice drink for $11.80. Portion size was good sized, and it was filling while being tasty enough for the price.

Afterwards, I went up to the korean shop with the others and got a 'fish' icecream. I don't know what it is with kooky korean icecreams, but a icecream in the shape of a fish, but with red bean and vanilla inside this 'waffle' outside..... $1.40. It was nice, but katsu said that he used to get them for $1. I guess that is what happens with inflation and profiteering.

It was a bit of a cold and brisk walk back to the house where the 'drinks' part of the night was going to be at. I took the wrong street turn but it wasn't a big deal since the streets were all connected and we still made it fine, I don't know why some people are worried about walking in the dark LOL. Then, the party.

The party was pretty full on. In a very (when I say very, I mean very) small townhouse we packed in an insane amount of people. Let's see, from memory it was about 36 people. It was a random mix of people that the host knew from kendo, uni, school, work and friends of friends and even a totally random msn person LOL. There was much alcohol to be had, cards, poker, Uno, Wii, drinking, more drinking, and plenty of conversation.

Even though I have only been with kendo people socially for less than 4 months, I have kind of got to know quite a few of them in a relatively good manner. I had heard all these stories about particular people when they got slightly loose with their tongues after having alcohol, and well, I got to see that in a very fresh perspective LOL. Ah, I won't really say much because, I should probably not, so I won't but it was *very* interesting LOL.

The night ended fairly peacefully and well, at this current point in time, I'm not sure I'll end up going to Tokyomart or not, but that's ok if I don't.

Signing out, still alive and relatively in good shape to some who will no doubt have some very heavy heads this morning.

Oh, I had confirmation that my 7th paper got published online ^^ I'm not first author but that's ok. Annnnnd the wood article paper for the Journal of Egyptology is being submitted this week too after a very long haul to get it into journal article shape and quality, so it'd be good to see how that one pans out.
