I've just started watching a new series called Delightful Girl Choon-hyang, though the korean title for it is Kwaegeol chun-hyang. It's actually an old series, from 2005, but it is 'new' to me. It was recommended to my by a friend who had also suggested I watch the movie 200lb Beauty a while back. So far I have only two episodes of the series as it is a very slow sharing of it.
First impressions, I wasn't entirely sure what it would be like before I watched it, I kind of read a synopsis about it, and well, it didn't leave much of a mark on me. After watching the first episode, I'm pretty much hooked LOL.
The acting isn't 100% but, it's k-drama, you're never going to get 100%. The story is actually, different. It's very funny so far, and quite well done. The only thing I don't really like about it is how 'stylized' it is in some parts, and how they do some of the 'effects' in it. I guess they were trying to make it flashy, or their budget meant it was the easiest to do it that way or something.
In the first two episodes, which I guess isn't really going to spoil the series since I don't know how it pans out myself, Boy gets transferred, boy meets girl, misunderstanding/conflict. Fate brings them continually into conflict until the only way to resolve the absolute mess is that they get married. Did I mention that they are also still in highschool?... Well, it might not be such a huge deal in some western countries, but in Korea at least, and in many Asian countries, it is quite scandalous an issue to traditionalists to some modern extents.
The main character of Chun-hyang, played by Han Chae-young is really good. She is actually quite cute depending on how her hair is done up and the facial expression she is using. She actually looks really young but is older than me by like 7 months LOL, makeup, costume and beauty products must work well on her. The main male lead of Lee Myong-ryong is played by Lee Hyun-kyoon, who incidentally is also in the other series that I am slowly collecting/watching, Three Dads One Mom/One Mom Three Dads (it seems the title is relatively interchanged according to Drama Wiki of D-Addicts). To which, he too is just slightly older than me, just under a year older than me, but still maintains a considerable youthful appearance.
I think I will enjoy this series indeed, it's just an issue of surviving long enough to get it all before I got batty LOL.
Exams also started for USYD students yesterday, so Good Luck to everyone.
