The first thing that strikes me is its association with Windows Live! gaming. You can make a profile but are given the option to connect to your Live! account, especially if you are playing the X-box version of this game.
It's the same ole formula in terms of driving a car around, crashing it into things, getting points and watching your driver getting thrown out of the car at rediculous speeds and objects for the sake of a crazy laugh or three.
The graphics though on this is really nice, I wonder what it would look like on DX10 with Vista with the fireballs when you crash and burn... My machine slows down a slight tad on the huge explosions like when you crash into petrol bowsers....
The soundtrack is just as rocking as the previous ones too. Nothing like a bit of heavy rock n headbanging while thrashing a car around a track like a maniac.
