Well, I went with the blue shirt and blue tie, a simple classic combo that looks clean and good. I think I need more shirts and ties LOL.
I caught the desired train in down to Circular Quay, and then legged it up the two blocks to the office. I was a little early so I sat in the sun with the crosswinds trying to freeze me.... Then headed upstairs. I didn't actually feel that nervous since I guess there wasn't really much to be too worried about.
Going through the reception though was interesting because the lady behind the desk interrupted me at the elevator and asked if I was alright.... I said yes, and pressed the button.... did I look out of place? Does she memorise everyone working in the building? I don't quite know what was going on there....
Well, the talk went for an hour, we had a chat about pretty much what was involved in the role, and the immediate work that needed to be done. When I say immediate... I mean, immediate. After I left there, I had some lunch (bread shop in Chinatown, yummo) and hit Broadway to buy supplies for the work that I had to conduct. Through Fisher to have a brief chat with a friend, then into the EMU to pass on the Biofilm report and have a chat, then to Wentworth to buy a lab-book, and then to engineering to start the work.
A few hours later, I finish up at one particular point, it's 5pm, I head on home.
So, as the situation is I am currently employed, but it is words only. Nothing is actually on paper or signed. It is 'contract' work at the moment until they are in the position to take me on full time so this is more of a stop-gap type of situation, and I hope they can take me on properly sooner than later. There is quite a large volume of work that needs to be taken control of by my 'position'. My 'position' doesn't actually even have a title either, thus why I can't even put it down.... So, things are kind of still really messy, but at the same time, at least there is some movement happening. As for pay, lets say it's sufficient for the work, though how/when I will be paid is yet to be determined due to the nature of such 'contractual' work.... hmmm.
Can't complain too much really, my situation has kind of improved greatly since yesterday at least ^^ My supervisor is also hoping to appoint me as an honorary research associate at the department so I can keep my keys and swipecard access to the building and labs.
So yeah, thats that for now.
