Clarification from D.E.Shaw

It appears that the secondary rejection from D.E.Shaw in regards to the Generalist Associate may be a separate affair after all. I received an email from them again today which reminded me that I hadn't sent them the information that they had requested for the Generalist Associate position. I guess it means that their email system must be set up in some way that it filters by title/content because although I had sent the form back in an 'efficiency' manner (both applications in the same email), only the Research Strategist Associate was actually considered.... hmm.

Well, I attached the appropriate files and popped off the email again, this time making sure they were attached haha. I have a feeling that they to will probably still reject me and this is all just a formality, and the key factor will be that my undergraduate marks were so low. What bothers me in regards to undergraduate marks is that they are only indicative if you 1) want to see how a person did nearly seven years ago if they did what I've done 2) want to see how well they do in a exam setting to dredge out assumed knowledge. The real world thinking abilities of a person is not anything like an exam and from what I understood of these kinds of positions (thanks to seminars I attended by prospective recruiters) is *analytical* ability and problem solving. Which I would have thought both are kind if a neccesary requirement of the completion of a PhD.....

Oh well. Once again, it is their loss. ^_^
