What does it mean, to be a man?
As a long standing joke between friends of mine, the phrase "Be a man, do the right thing~" is often used. It refers to a comedy sketch by stand up comedian Russell Peters. The youtube of this is found here.
Now, in the sketch, being a man means taking a bargain that is being offered to you, and doing the right thing. What that means exactly, I still don't know.
To me, being a man had a few points to it. Being a man requires you to be tough, manly, able to protect people who you care about, being responsible, making hard decisions. Being a man may or may not also mean that you are blokey, into sports, cars, hot chicks and those other associated things. What I would also like to think being a man involves, in this day and age, is some intelligence, understanding, sensitivity to boot. They might not be your standard settings default out of the box, but, with the rise and fall of the metrosexual and now the pansexual, a little give on traditional manliness isn't too big a deal, is it?...
I wonder if I'm really a man LOL..

As a woman I aspire to be tough, to be able to protect those I care about, to be responsible and be able to make hard decision. These traits are not necessarily traits of a "man", rather, characteristics of an honourable person.
Perhaps the intrinsic differences between the genders is more superficial that we thought.
There is nothing wrong with saying "Be a man! Do the right thing..." However, next time we may keep in mind to also say -
"Be a woman! Do the right thing!"
It's easy! "Be a good person! Do the right thing!" ^_^
