Just another day

Well, today was just another day really. Woke up, wrote an email, looked for jobs, didn't apply for any =( I watched one episode (episode 1) of My Name is Sam Soon Kim (K-drama) while doing the job searching, and also ate my lunch.

Post lunch, I caught a empty train to uni, and moved my computer and stuff downstairs to my new environment. The move took three trips, not much to move, but my stuff is on the floor because the previous occupant hadn't been able to clear it out yet, no biggie. I don't even have keys to that room yet. Hopefully they will be available on Friday for me to pick up at the Security Office in the Services Building. The office is sub-ground levelish at the window, and there is an air-condition unit installed but the two times I have been in there, it hasn't been on. I will be sharing it with an Indian visiting Professor, someone who is only in three days a week, and someone who comes like twice a year from Singapore. Odd crew really. The air-conditioner will probably stay off because it might be noisy in such a small room, or something, but I'm not expecting at the moment to be in there very often anyway so it's not a problem.

After I sorted that out, I tried to find someone in department to discuss something but they were not to be found. What did happen though was they called me during Kendo training and I didn't know because I was training, and then I called them back after training but they had already gone.... It's like a comedy of errors where we can't seem to catch each other when we need to.

Anyway, moving to Kendo training. We had a lot of people at training today, and a lot of them were in bogu, which is excellent. Superb. We did the usual warmup routine, and then footwork practice, then similarly to what we did on Saturday, Dou cut practice. We then had the bogu players put on their Men, and did more practice together with everyone using the bogu players as motodachi for cut practice before some jigeiko at the end.

What did I learn? Some people shouldn't be in bogu LOL. There is these two people who are in bogu, I don't know how long they have been playing for, but their posture is absolutely terrible. They can't even do a good kihon men cut. Now, I just put a post on our club forum about sportsmanship, and badmouthing people is a bad sportmanship. Am I badmouthing them? I don't think so, I'm being very critical of their technique here, I am not saying that is anything to do with their character. I just think that they should practice a lot more on basics first, or with bogu on, but they do have a lot of work to do, in my opinion. What else did I learn today? Some of the beginner bogu players need to learn to do tenouchi. I got clubbed by a few people today... Beginners not in bogu can be excused, especially if they have only been learning Kendo for like ten weeks. Beginner bogu players should know better since they have done their beginners training, plus more, plus several weeks of bogu training as it is. Please, for the sake of my head, learn to control the cut and tenouchi. Power and force is part of a good cut, so is tenouchi~ XD

In jigeiko, I got to play three people. One of them was a bad posture guy, and two others were the senior-est seniors in the club today. We were playing ippon jigeiko because we didn't have much time (as usual, running late...), and well, with bad posture guy, I popped a good ippon men cut on him quickly. With the other two, well, different story. First one I exchanged a good amount of cuts and blocks whatnot. As I mentioned in a previous post, when I play people of around my level, I treat it more like shiai, and so I will be blocking etc. Playing this person is always fun, but we still play in a serious manner. The second person I played, well, daaaaamn, it will be a long long long time before I can overcome their sheer speed. I had two nice cuts, possibly only one would be an ippon in a match, and I knew they gave me the opening LOL... but, it is good practice anyway.

My friend dropped by after his classes while we packed up and all that, and he gave me a lift to the train station. On the way it was good to chat and catch up a little. However, also on the way to the station, we saw someone we both knew, and he stopped to say hi to them. I'm not sure if they said hi to both of us, or just to him since the last time I saw this person... it wasn't exactly in the best of conditions. I haven't seen this person in quite a while. I'm glad that they look to be in good health, and are doing well in life and whatever they are doing with it. I don't know exactly what is on between us, but it isn't really anything that I can do much about anymore, so I try not to let it get to me, and I have other things to deal with in life. I wish them well for their upcoming exams since this is their last semester of uni if they have passed everything else, and then hopefully will be able to get a good job in whatever they are looking at. So, it was a little bit of a downward push on my afternoon to have that encounter, but I bounced back soon enough when I got home so it's all good.

It's quite warm now, still. It's 10pm and still a warm 25°C, with 48% relative humidity. I was tired before when I got home, but I did have dinner, and I think after digestion, the blood sugar levels travelling around in me have picked up some ^_^ Well, that was today. Not particularly interesting though. Oh well. Just another day.
