Friday.
Had a early morning to drive to uni for parking and then bummed around for a while. I was initially going to go see the Wisdom exhibition at the State Library, however I found the companion book instead at Dymocks in Broadway and ended up just reading through it instead. While I was reading it though, I got a phone call from Lang Technologies in regards to coming in earlier to have a brief chat before the representative from the Canadian company arrived. So, I swung by the breadshop on the way down and bought some bread for lunch and munched it on my way down to Circular Quay where the office was.
The two meeting were ok, nothing special really happened, just talk and speculative interest in stuff. Only one person came since the time for the meeting got changed and the other couldn't come along. I got two business cards and got to learn a little about how the Manitobian provice government was conducting things to promote and improve their provincial industries and research. The rep seemed nice enough.
Post training, I went back to uni and went to pick up my new room key. They ladies behind the counter couldn't find it for about fifteen minutes, searching all over the place, and the locksmith had gone to lunch. They eventually found it sitting in broad daylight with some other stuff on a desk, which, isn't where it was supposed to be... So, going back to the room, I discovered that my internet didn't work gahhhh, I knew moving it would cause that, but according to someone else who is in adminstration, they said it wouldn't be a problem.... I knew it was wrong, but I didn't really do anything about it, I'll have to bug our IT guy to get my MAC address set on the system again.
Then, I went to Kendo for the afternoon. Training wasn't really content filled, though we did 'learn' debana kote and kaishi dou cuts in a alternating method. It was pretty tiring though I must admit, and we ran out of time as usual, so jigeiko was very short, and very abrupt. What I did learn tough is if an opponent advances into my cutting distance, even if I'm not ready, I should make the cut.
We had arranged over MSN the night before where we were going for dinner, and the choice was Seoul-Ria, just upstairs on Golburn St in the City. We didn't book, and the line was huge. I think we were lucky though because when we were waiting the line moved pretty quick and we got a table easily since the groups leaving must have been seated at similar times. I had read a review on Seoul-Ria, and they said the food was good, but could be a little pricey. We ordered a Potato Pancake, a Dolicut Bimobap, a Pork Dobokki and Jokbhal. It came to $89, so for five people it was quite reasonable, but looking at prices on other dishes, it could have easily been much more expensive for us. They were all quite nice, so I would say if you have the time to wait in line and you don't want to book ahead, give it a try.
We popped over to Passionflower in Capital Square for desserts afterwards where we had some interesting conversations lol. Then we went home. I took someone elses brand new bogu home because we had training in Tasker Park today, and I broke it in for them by tying up the men flaps, and also breaking in the kote.
Training today in the park was pretty fun, with two new bogu to be broken in. We didn't do anything special, just cuts in general. It was quite warm though, and we spent three hours training. I'm happy in general with how they are progessing and developing. They are enthusiastic, and take care to listen and try, which is very important. Though, I don't know when they will plateau and how that will affect their motivation. For me, I think I am probably a little bit in a plateau right now, but I'm sure regular training will show something eventually.
So, that's pretty much it, thus far ^_^
