I popped out to go shopping today for a few hours as there is a birthday shindig on Sunday in one of the parks near the city. It was a nice escape because of the heat, and getting into shopping centre air-conditioning made the hottest part of the day quite pleasant. It was predicted 37°C out near where I live and I would believe it considering that right now it is 11pm and still 32°C in my bedroom....
The dilemma was that we didn't quite know exactly what to get for the birthday boy, and it took a few SMS's and wandering around to get the final object, which was actually not what he had suggested.... The other thing we also was wondering about was, it is a combined birthday party but we didn't know the other person... did we need to get something for them too? In the end, since the other person was a girl, it was easily settled by getting some chocolates, after all, chocolates work as a nice generic gift for girls right? At least we thought so.
Lunch was at a viet place, where I had some kind of noodle with pork rib and spring roll, and a three-strip coconut milk drink, I think the grass jelly combo from F&L in Maquarie Centre was better though more expensive.. Nice lunch at least. A hot drive home but at least we got the shopping done.
The next thing to deal with though is Sunday itself and getting there . . . .
