Goodbye to an old friend, hello to a new replacement

Today I had to bid farewell to my old swipecard, whom I have had since a very long time ago. The receipt for the $25 deposit I paid was the first of November 2004. It was one of those with a barcode and card number (8849) and a pile of text on it saying to return it to security office if it had been found.

With my new appointment in the school as a postdoctoral research associate, I was told I had to have a new staff card, so I trundled down to the card centre at the base of Fisher library to get one made. Simple enough process but the first one that was printed said Mr.... I mentioned it to them, though I didn't care that much about it, but the appointment form did say Dr on it, so the guy said it wasn't a problem and printed off a second one with Dr on it. Now that I had the new card, security office was automatically notified about the creation of the new card, and apparently it meant I had to go over and switch the swipe access over. I think it is because it prevents having two copies of access available? But if I didn't enable it on my new staff card, it wouldn't have made that a problem....

Anyway, the lady was nice to switch the access over, and then she dug through the recipt books to find my receipt stub, and then she paid me back my deposit from all those years ago. So now I have a new friend to be aquainted with when opening my accessed doors, and also having my ugly mug as part of its front too, until the printed material wears away from use LOL.

Come to think about it, I never got my $20 back... I switched my ChE card to a Chem to a staff card then left...
