Alternative Style of Training + Extras

Friday, had usual training for Kendo, with a slight difference. We had a visitor Yon-Dan from another local club train with us, and half-way through the waza practice, the person leading got injured and had to stop. This meant the visitor took over leading. His own club trains different to ours in how they teach and present material. The material was very good, and how they teach is also very good, but it just is much less physical than our regular training, with only three cuts per rotation compared to our normal five cuts per rotation. There is also much more stoppage time and very heavy detailed explanations.

For me, I didn't feel that satisfied with my training because three cuts each set wasn't really enough for me to get to feeling proper on the cuts, and I didn't exercise very much either. But now at least I know what their regular training is more like.

Afterwards we went to Market City for dinner and we had quite a few beginners come along and join us, which is great to see. I had a chicken katsudon which came with a miso soup, and after dinner we popped down to Capitol Square Passionflower for icecream (I had a double happiness) before we headed home.

Earlier in the day however, as I mentioned in my previous post in regards to the student with issues, they came to see me to ask if they could get my details to send me a formal request to be their associate supervisor. I was fine with that, and they had spoke to the head of department and their own supervisor regarding the issue. Once I got home, the email was there, so I sent the reply off and now on Monday I will hunt down formalities and paperwork to complete the progress. Now I get an additional student on my sheet to look after, which I think would be good experience since their work is definintely out of my known area.

I didn't sleep well, as usual, have training in a little bit so will have to see how it goes I guess. I've been asked to go to someones house and cook lunch with them, so I'll see how that goes if it happens.
