Went to the Royal Easter Show today with some friends from Kendo and their friends. It was I guess quite a small group technically, but along the way, it broke into splinter cells and inevitably separation happened. There was thirteen of us in total by the end of the day with one of them coming a little later than the rest of us.
Having now been to the show three years in a row, I think I'm okay to not go again anytime soon since there really isn't much new-ness or excitement to the whole affair. Without purchasing anything, looking at the exhibitions is okay but really not that enticing compared with the price of entry. I guess this time was because it was with a group of friends, and that made it alright.
We cruised around quite a bit, looked at stuff, had free samples etc. I took some photos (now up on my flickr), bought a dagwood dog for lunch and also had a $1 Coon Toastie as my food, along with water and some fruit I brought with me. I also sampled some dessert wine which was quite nice.
The getting home part was actually the most annoying part of the day. Standing at Olympic Park station, there was supposed to be a 17:18 train, I didn't actually get onto a train until nearly 17:45, and considering that there is supposed to be trains every 10 minutes, and I was there since just past 17:00.... it was a long wait on a crowded platform for mystery trains that didn't arrive. Furthermore, you know the crowd is frustrated when there is sarcastic applause when the train actually finally appeared out of the tunnel and pulls into the station.... It was crowded because there was also a rugby league match between Paramatta and Canterbury, so lots of footy fans after what seemed like a disgruntled crowd since Paramatta got smacked 48-18 LOL.
Of course, when the train pulled into Lidcombe where I had to change stations, it bucketed down, and I had no direct train home but instead walked the distance from Reagents Park station in the dark but at least it had stopped raining by then.
It was a long day, it was quite fun for most part, we even timed how long the "No Limit" ride ran for (2:28) because for $15 a ride, we wanted to know if it would be worth it. Well, if you want to pay just under $7.50/minute..... you can ride it. LOL
Chatted about lots of things, and just had a good day even if the weather was spotty rain. ^_^
