Playing with Bamboo

I spent a little time today playing with some bamboo and crafting. I had originally wanted to make some bamboo cups for a wedding present for a friend, but due to time constraints and weather, I was unable to get them done in time. While it is about a fortnight after when I tried to make them last time, they have dried out a little better and I attempted to make them today, but this time for someone else's event, a house warming, which is just as befitting I guess.

I made two of them, slightly different sizes because the thickness of the bamboo was different, though the shorter one still holds less liquid than the taller one.

I then made a small pendant/necklace thingy for a friend who is making something artistic for my birthday present, and I asked them what they wanted to have written on it and they said Luck, so that is the meaning of the character on it. It's a faily simple solid block of bamboo with some guache carbon black and then matte coated before having a bit of leather tied on and some S3 string material plaitted (3 ply) put through with a spring clasp.

I like working with bamboo, it smells really nice when it's fresh.
