Monday afternoon, a friend of mine dropped by to give me a birthday present she had made, where she used modelling clay to make a very nice set of lotus flower, some poppies and a morning glory, painted also. They were something for me to take over to the US if I was to move there, as a small bit of 'garden' since I said to them that I would miss my garden here at home if I moved to the big smoke.
We went for "coffee" with another friend as a last thing before I went on my holiday, and we went to White Apple, inside the Reagent Centre on George St, next to the cinemas. It was interesting because their theme is about green tea. I had a green tea cappuccino while the others had a green tea con pon, and just straight green tea (pot). It didn't look like that they put a lot of green tea powder into the milk jug as she was preparing mine, but they added honey into the milk. Then she said we could wait outside as she started to froth the milk. The cup was a really dark and rich spinach green colour, with some white coffee art ontop and the aroma of green powdered tea (Japanese style) was very strong. The taste didn't disappoint either, a strong taste though it was probably too much powder since I could feel it in the milk. It didn't taste bad mind you, and the honey sweetness wasn't too much or overpowering either. I thought it was nice though, even if there was a lot of deposit on the sides of the cup.
For dinner, we ended up going to RamenKan, down on the edge of Chinatown. I had never been before, and the others said it was nice. The store is quite small, fits a reasonable amount of patronage though in the cramped space. The menu was broken into: lunch specials, winter specials, entree, ramen, rice/don and then drinks/desserts. I picked a entree of spring rolls and a salt butter corn ramen. It came out relatively quickly, the spring rolls had sweet chilli sauce on them which was a little spicey. The ramen was a bit springy I thought, and the stock also a little weak but other than that, the tonkatsu slices were well cooked and nice, and overall it was fine. Price was reasonable for it, though I think I liked the ramen at the Ichiban Boshi next to Kinokunya better.
Then, we went home. ^_^
