What really is being "tired"?
I know that Luke has done a lot of reading on this, and I'm sorry that he got slightly (probably more than slightly...) offended at our dinner party when we were discussing this with others....

But, physically vs mental changes, what defines tiredness?
How about those people that just *never* sleep?......
Does your mind tell your body that it needs rest?
Or does the body tell your mind that it needs a rest?
Or is it a mutually inclusive and feedback loop system?.....

I heard a theory once, well, read it more like it, years and years ago, that some people who attained a certain level with their inner selves and meditative techniques, didn't have to sleep, because they were able to sleep during their eyeblinks.....
Now, on average, a person blinks every several seconds, give or take a few seconds depending on weather conditions and other factors like if it is dusty or you are crying etc. The blink lasts only a few milliseconds.....

So doing a rough calculation (say 1 blink per 5 seconds? a blink lasting 100ms?)
Then, 1 minute is 12 blinks, which means 1 hour is 720 blinks, which is then in turn 17280 blinks in a day (wow, those ocular muscles get so much workout, that's probably why they are so defined.... getting sidetracked). So, at 100ms each, it comes to 1728 seconds.... which only comes down to 28.8 minutes.... so you get half an hour sleep a day?.....

But then, if you do some rapid blinking, or just increase the blink rate (and some people I know do both actually, unconsciously for some reason, it's not a controlled action in some people) so if you blink say 1 every 3 seconds then you are resting 48 minutes, which means automatically an additional 20 minutes.....

Now, in extreme eye flutter style, similar to flirtatious behaviour as I have seen one person do as their natural blink, I think they do around 4 blinks as their singular "blink" action. Which means if they blink naturally at a "blink" every 5 seconds it comes to 115.2 minutes. And if it's one "blink" every 3 seconds (which would be scarey cos they would be almost perpectually blinking!) it comes down to 192 minutes, or just over 3 hours.....

Something as food for thought as I head off towards my bed.
