Happy Valentine's Day for those who celebrate it.

Today was pretty ordinary in most respects, went in, did some lab work and fixed up the tubing issue and pump issues for the in-line salt crystallisation laser particle sizer, and also did some work on the Chemeca 2008 paper.

Then tried to go home. It took a while to get a train today because I wanted to catch a Bankstown train, on platform 6 at Redfern. But then, they said it was going to be on platform 4. Ok, walked back and waited. Then they said it was back on platform 6, however before we could move (like the 40 odd other people) the train on platform 6 had already left, leaving quite a few disgruntled people milling around. Of course, we weren't actually told what was happening until the next announcement that said there were to be no trains for Macdonaldtown, Newtown, Stanmore, Petersham, Lewisham and Summer Hill because there had been a fatality at Summer Hill......

I eventually got a train to Liverpool on platform 6 that cruised very slowly through Summer Hill where a new Millenium train was half on the platform, Citybound direction, and a lot of CitryRail staff hanging around and peering over the platform.... you couldn't see anything from the train since we were 3 tracks away, but hmmmm.... so it was a little bit of a long journey home.

I got home and discovered my 2008 student card awaiting me. Unfortunately the powers that be determined I was not to be eligible for a travel concession, probably because I've submitted my thesis and therefore am no longer a full time student. Oh wells. My current travel concession lasts until the 31st March anyway so it is another month of cheaper (I say that since it isn't cheap really) travel on CitryRail.
