Well, I've just finished watching the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.
It wasn't too bad. Though I would say that Lizzy was far better looking than Jane in my humble opinion LOL.

Hmm, Colin Firth did indeed do a very good performance, and I really liked Lizzy for her smile and facial expressions, so well casted indeed.

In terms of differences between the new version I previously spoke of, besides the obvious differences in length and the shortened plot for time purposes, I think they both carry the story quite nicely. In terms of presenting the 'nature' of the characters, I think that the Mr Collins from the new version is far seedier, but the BBC is more creepier, perhaps with the paunch of his face... For both Mr Bingly they are quite similar in appearance so brilliant in that aspect. I think the very 'English' component of Colin Firth really does shine as the Mr Darcy I would prefer, though Kiera Knightly vs Jennifer Ehle.... hard to say.... I would still prefer Kiera just because I have seen her other works and think that she is pretty nice =P

It isn't really a chick-flick style of production (the BBC) since it is a mini-series, however it does take some attention to detail in terms of listening to the wording to understand the wit and humor especially used by Elizabeth. I have actually attempted to read the book twice, and failed to make much progress into it for it was quite difficult to read. But now that I have seen the BBC version, I don't think I will need to read it haha =P

If you haven't seen or read Pride and Prejudice, then I would say, take the time out and do so. If it is to your intellectual liking at least since I can wholly appreciate that it may not be everyones cup of tea.
