Well, the Business Management applications are all rolling back with th expected result. Bain & Company, and the Boston Consulting Group both emailed me back today. Bain & Company was a generic email, while the Boston Consulting Group seemed to me a little more tailored because it mentioned my rather unique and impressive qualifications LOL. Of course, both mention the large volume and high quality applications but both then go forth to mention that I am not suited for their preferences.
Oh well.
Now Port Jackson Partners are the only ones left in this ballgame of Business Management. I am expecting that they too will contact me soon and say, sorry, you're not suitable for us.
I ran the sugar crystallisation experiment today, and I must say it was pretty much a waste of time in my opinion. The evaporation rate of saturated sucrose is incredibly slow and low, because there is nearly 3.5x sugar content to water ratio, that there is hardly any real water present.... In any case, for all intended purposes, practically no change in the particle sizes being detected across nearly 4 hours of evaporation. Quite frustrating, and I believe that I don't really want to do that again, at least not with sucrose.
One of my office colleagues actually came in today, I hadn't seen her in ages so we had a short chat before she got stuck into her thesis... she is hoping to submit at the end of the month, so Gambatte!
Oh, I still haven't heard back yet from Fisher Library people... perhaps they have sufficient casual shelving assistants or something. Um..... what else.....
Oh, I had some weird spike in visits over the last few days, usual sort of 1-2 random hits here and there, and then boom, 10 hits, 1-2, 2-4, boom 10 hits..... it was rather strange indeed.
I managed to call through to QANTAS today to discuss my flight options, I cancelled and have a credit voucher for my flight value as I decided that I had plenty of time to use it, I didn't have to accredit it directly to a flight at the moment since I have no idea what my work situation will determine. Though, I must use and fly before the 14th of December 2008, but that is quite a while away yet.
I have been helping someone I know with their thesis. They are doing a Master of Engineering (Research) and looking at modelling peristatic flow using CFD. Although it seems quite simple, the maths and physics behind it is quite heavy. Which didn't help when I was attempting to figure out what he was trying to say with his 'textbook' phrase sentences. The way he has written sounds like he just cut and pasted chunks of text because the sentences just had no flow, no rhythm. Although I didn't know the material, it still was difficult to read, let alone assist in making it better. I asked him if his supervisor had helped and looked at it, he said no because his supervisor always told him he was too busy. Now, that I find to be really slack and a bad supervisor. But yeah, I'll attempt to slog through more of it tomorrow and help him out with it.
Hmm, Group meeting tomorrow, two people will present/talk about a paper they have read, and then we'll just chat as a group, and have cake =)
Cake!
