Super Smash Brothers Brawl

This is one of the most popular series of games on the Nintendo platform, and this particular title on the Wii is no exception. My brother bought this on pre-order because the English version took ages to be released while people who had chipped Wii's got Japanese copies since the game is exactly the same except for the text components.

If you are unfamiliar with what Super Smash Brothers is, it is a platform style game (2D movement, left/right, up/down only) where you beat up opponents. When you beat them up, they take damage in % values. To kill them, you have to knock/smash them off the 'screen' with an attack, basically hitting them so far off the screen that they can't come back, or fall off the edge of the platforms. The damage part comes in with how far they fly outwards/upwards when you smash them. At 0% they don't go very far, and can jump/fly/drift back easily, at 100% is is still manageable at 200% is is very hard, and at 300%, you're pretty much dead. Simple enough concept really, and the gameplay is also simple.

In adventure mode, you follow a story line and you get to beat up minion creatures who have health bars where at zero health, they are smashed off the screen, and then bosses you have to smash off the screen with the % method. In the other modes of play, you have mini-games like the sandbag baseball, or you just beat up the CPU or other players.

It is loads of fun, but a lot of button bashing and combos, and with more than one player, it gets very chaotic LOL. I think this will have a lot of hours of gameplay. So far, I have played 12% of the story mode and that took 52minutes..... so going by that, it'll be another seven hours or so before I finish the story mode haha.

If you have a Wii, and like this kind of game, then get it for some single and party playing fun.
