Weekend in Brisvegas (Friday)

I'm back from my weekend in Brisvegas.
And oh what a weekend it was.

Part I - Friday
I got myself to the airport via the airport link transport service (train) and dragged my luggage up to the Qantas terminal and lined up for baggage drop-off. The line was huge, like, ...... a hundred meters total moving distance huge. Due to space limitations of course, the line has to snake back and forth and well, it took about forty minutes before I got to get my bag tagged and into the bowels of the luggage storage system before the plane landed. It was lunchtime, so I had some time, about forty minutes or so before boarding and I wasn't entirely sure what would be the next time I had some food (with breakfast a good many hours behind me) I plonked myself down at the Ignite Grill in the food section at Sydney Domestic Airport. After ordering the Calamari fingers, I read a little of a book by Vince Flynn called Act of Treason. Ignite Grill.... was... ok. I think the dude behind the kitchen was too busy to handle all the orders since it was just him cooking, one of their guys was eating and the other was manning the counter. By the time I got my calamari fingers and fries, lets say the traditional 'golden brown' that you would expect of your battered seafood was a nice 'brownie' brown colour instead. It wasn't cooked to charred crisp, still tasted fine but a little more cooked than I would have preferred. Of course I could have complained about it except I had a plane to catch and didn't really want to miss it. Flight wise, it was fine, quietish flight, read some more, watched a little Top Gear, ate a light sandwich (Ham + Sundried Tomato and Relish) and a cup of coffee that was provided. It was actually the smoothest landing that I have experienced in quite a while, so excellent work by whichever Qantas pilot that took QF528 on the 4th July 2008.

I have one complaint in regards to the train fares in Brisbane in relation to the Airport Link service. It would be not out of the ordinary to expect that a single fare from Station A (for Airport) to Station F (for Fruitgrove) via Station C without leaving Station C (for Central) would cost the same or less than getting two fares of Station A - C, Station C - F. However, this apparently is not the case. It is in reality, seventy cents more expensive to get the single ticket option.... WTF? So, I went A-C, got out of the gates, bought another ticket, back in, C-F. Yes, it is seventy cents, but it is the principle of the matter! The trains were clean I guess, and it was a nice trip down to Fruitgrove where my relatives live.

I had a drink and something light to eat at the Green Tea Garden (84 Mango St, Fruitgrove QLD 4113 Australia, +61 7 3341 0484, tea creations and asian cuisine) before going back to one of my uncles place for dinner and seeing my relatives. Hung around with one lot before being driven to the other uncles place where I would be staying the night. I ended up watching some satelite tv of Taiwanese and Japanese shows until like 1am haha. Then bed.
