Hmmmm

Well, I went to the house-warming yesterday that I mentioned in a previous post. More of a unit warming really, it was a one bedroom unit/apartment (what is the difference anyway??), but quite a nice one. Not huge, but also not tiny, plenty of room for the couple. There was a kitchen with a gas stove (4 burner), single sink, microwave-oven combo, a fridge, there was a washing machine and the bathroom had a combined shower/bathtub setup. The bedroom was large enough for a queen sized bed with plenty of space around it and built-in wardrobe too. The living space was enough for a four person kitchen table, a coffee table with a two person sofa plus two standalones, a tv and a computer table with space for a highback rollerchair and a shelf unit. There was also quite a large balcony too. All in all, quite roomy really. The location was about five minutes walk from the uni, about twenty minutes walk from a major shopping centre, and about half an hour from trains, though buses were right outside their place.

It was a good night, I had dreaded going for anticipation of someone who had been on the invite list, but they didn't turn up, so I was able to relax and enjoy the evening. Fun conversation, good food, and we played a few games of Scruples, and one round of Shithead (the card game). I had never played Scrouples before, but I actually won the first round LOL and someone won the second round. The basis of the game in scruples is that you get five question cards. Each turn, you get a answer card of yes, no or depends. During your turn, you ask someone else a question from your cards-in-hand who you think would answer with the answer in your answer card (the yes, no, depends). If they give the answer you wanted, you discard the question card and don't have to pick up another. If they don't give the desired answer, you discard the question card and pick up a new one and it is the next person's turn. It really is fun, and it tests to see if you know their scruples (morals/ethical inclination). If you think their answer however isn't their real answer, e.g. they are cheating so you don't win, you can challenge them, and they have to defend their answer against your reasons why you think that isn't their true answer. The other players then vote on who they think is right. Whoever wins gets to pass one of their question cards to the losing player as penalty for losing.

I also won the game of shithead by having two 10's in the last two unknown cards LOL. Lucky~.

I had one drink, a Amber Ale by James Squire, it wasn't as nice as the Golden Ale I had before, but it was bearable. We had three cakes too because it was also someone's birthday that day, so kind of double celebration of sorts. Two from Breadtop, and one from somewhere else... oh there was a lot of cake....

Ended up getting home almost 1am, and the music on the radio was good, all songs I knew and liked so I didn't have to change stations or anything. It was a pretty good night.

Bludged around today, and the only real thing of note is I bid on a used laptop on eBay LOL. I think I'm going to get majorly outbid for it, but hey, it's a nice deal for the price, why wouldn't you bid if you needed one?...
