I think I have a little bit of a cold, sneezing, sniffles, scratchy throat, the general thing really.
I still ended up going to training today though. I also went to training yesterday too.
Yesterdays training was fairly light I guess as we ran through the stuff that we did in the Chiba Sensei Seminar with the people who weren't there or couldn't participate for whatever reason. Then we had a round of kiriakaeshi and jigeiko.
Todays training was quite vigorous by comparison probably in some kind of cosmic karma way. We did a quick round or five of kirikaeshi, and then we practiced with uchigomigeiko and kakarigeiko in groups with static motodachi. We then had two rounds of jigeiko at the end. It was really really tiring but good I guess. What wasn't good was doing it with my cold so I'm not sure if stressing my body with the exercise was such a good idea or not.....
After training though I was given some words in regards to my current level. My level is pretty crummy but it's not like I don't know that already. What it seems to be is that I lack 'speed'. With my not perfect basics, my techniques (not waza) isn't fast because it's not practiced to death. My other problem is that in jigeiko I don't watch my distance properly and stand too close in, so being slow and too close = getting hit a lot LOL. Well, I'm kind of familiar with that already, but I also have slow reflexes so I don't know how to improve my speed except to take things with time and improve my basics overall. ~shrug~ It's not a big deal to me because I am happy to crawl at my own pace, and I'm being compared to people who have been training for 2 years straight before I came back, so in reality, I've only been playing 1.5 years to their 2.5 years kind of thing.
I'll just keep plodding along.
