Starting the daily grind...

Went to 'work' today. Ran a spray drying experiment, oh boy how exciting it was... well, no, not really... Sprayed some stuff though it did have an extraordinarily high yield which was fantastic though, meaning that this material combination was definitely a better one than the previous materials we used to use, so shows very good return potential for industrial application at least.

I managed to convince my supervisor to start using Google Calendar for our machine bookings instead of paper bookings in the lab, and I think it will work very well. Within minutes of the calendar being set up, we had already a whole lot of bookings made on it by the mass of users we currently have in the lab using the two spray dryers. Then the sorption boxes were also added to the calendar system. Online is good, saves paper, you can book remotely and you can visualise much easier who has what booked when, instead of looking back and forth the piece of paper trying to figure out if someone has made a booking when you want it. The paper worked fine when there was like three of us using it, but now we have over eight people using it that I know of...

What else did I do today? I also called one of the ingredient suppliers to ask for more sample, to only discover that they were in China until Friday, but the person who answered the phone said that they would send it onto me once their cleared it with their boss. I also tried to contact my own employer to ask about a few things but they had left the office on the way to the airport, and their mobile was switched off, so.... hard to catch and no idea where they will be in the morning...

Um, I didn't manage to make it to training today though, by the time I finished up with the lab work and cleaning up etc, it was already 4pm, and by the time I wandered down, it would have been quite pointless. So I did some other things in the office.

Oh, I also called about getting my car serviced by Subaru. Since it was the 200 000km mark, it is a 'major' service. What I didn't expect was the major pricetag of $1300 to go along with it. That is like 1/4 the car value..... It's even more than insurance for the car.... So I called my local instead and arranged for it to be serviced by them tomorrow morning for $650, half the price. At least with my local guy, he knows me and my car LOL.

Oh, I also downloaded the spore creature generator trial from EB Games and played around with it a little just then, looks interesting.
