Wild Biotechnology

Well, been at uni doing 'work'. Reading pdf's on stuff, running small time experiments, calling people up about stuff etc.

Not much to divulge really.

Had the car serviced yesterday, cost me $663, with $375 of it related to it being a major service and having the timing belt replaced for the 200 000km mark. My old one was wearing and had evidence of cracks appearing in the rubber, or so the guy showed me.

I attended a lecture given by Vic Cherikoff of Vic Cherikoff Foods today also, it was two hours long, very interesting stories but not a lot of actual lecture material as such. It was about "Wild Biotechnology" where he talked about the potential for biotechnology from wild australian plants, and how some of their products were developed. A lot of interesting stories as I said because he seems to enjoy rambling on and on haha but he seemed like quite a nice person, and quite knowledgable with his stuff in terms of biochem, food science, microbiol etc etc. I also had a brief chat post-lecture in regards to some of the work we were doing with his materials, mainly the hibiscus/rosella extract and he was quite interested to see what we had actually done with it. It seems that they are working on some green broccoli product at the moment. It probably would have been lots of interesting things if he had a job position available and hired me lol but that didn't happen. Oh well.

I'm still on the vestibules of being sick, slight runny nose, sneeze, very infrequent cough, that type of thing. Hopefully I'll finally shake it off soon, otherwise it will be two weeks......

Looking at getting a laptop too still, not really sure what to get, a lot of stuff out there to assimilate about it all ~sigh~ though it would also be nice if I got paid too which would help with the funding part of it.
