Burns (not on me) and other bits

One of the chaps at chem eng today suffered a burn from nitric acid (70% nitric). He was working next to someone who was dispensing it from the glass jar with one of those pump action measuring devices and somehow it splashed onto him soaking through the labcoat sleeve onto his forarm. I don't know how fast he took it off or rinsed etc but I saw the aftermath mark on his forarm while he was being treated at the front office. Quite impressive, looked like a hot water burn with a pattern on it, quite red. Now he has a bandage on it and people are asking what he did to himself lol. Be careful around high concentration acids and bases kiddies, that stuff is nasty!

I did a spray experiment and some more time trial stuff today with my work, and literature on my work. I found a patent similar in purpose to what I am doing, but a very different approach, so at least going by that, it looks promising that we are doing something significantly different in one field anyway.

I was thinking of if I could get a phone in my room where I am located, so I wouldn't have to go out to the front office and bug them to use their phone. I found the phone socket, I even managed to find a spare phone, but the phone was missing the bit that connected it to the socket grrr, so, no phone for me. I wonder if I should ask to be relocated into my supervisors old office while he has his new shiny office for the next year and a bit still as head of department lol.....

A friend of mine invited me to join in on a app on facebook called Dungeons & Dragons :Tiny Adventures. It's a very complex but yet simple app that plays mini-adventures solo with a pre-set character class they let you chose. It's quite fun and they have done very well with it even though it has some bugs etc, but hey, it's still good. There is a timer between encounter events so it means you have to wait for it, so you might as well do some work inbetween instead of continuous procrastination LOL, smart.

Finally, one thing I forgot to ramble on about yesterday in regards to Wild Biotechnology, Vic told us what the ultimate food was in the world. Ceasar Salad. It combines all seven tastes, and a lot of colour and textures. The perfect balance. If you can create a dish which has sweetness, sourness, saltiness, bitterness, ulmanni (the roasted taste), pungency (like chilli) and creaminess then you have it made. Food for thought eh.
