Taken

Man, this guy is a machine....
You could say he's like an older version of James Bond, a little gruffier, less suave but certainly has the right moves....

Ex-'government' employee Byian has 17 year old daughter. She wants to be a groupie and follow U2 around Europe with a friend. He grudgingly gives her permission to go, and what she do? She gets herself kidnapped. Bryn gets kind of upset (as you would of course) but being the trained ex-operative that he is, says to the kidnappers

Bryan on mobile phone: "I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want, if you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money but what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you. I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you. I will find you. And I will kill you." [Silence]
Kidnapper: "Good Luck." [Phone breaking sounds]

It is a fast and slow paced movie has he sleuths his way around Paris trying to find his daughter. The body count slowly rises as he goes. He action sequences are very well done and they are certainly more 'realistic' than your normal Hollywood film, perhaps because Luc Besson directed this. Gunshots are realistic and not rediculously overpower weapons, and well, lets say how the bad people die, is like how they would actually get killed by someone with the right training.

It certainly is not a movie for the weak of heart, not so much that it is gruesome, but just it is very up front violence, shot in the face type of thing..... As you could expect a very very upset trained person would be trying to get their daughter back from unscrupulous kidnappers....

I quite enjoyed this movie LOL Liam Neeson does wonderfully well. The imdb is here.
