Silly companies with insufficient internet resources

The website for Catch of the Day has been absolutely pummelled by punters today who have been attempting to hammer-load their way to bargains. Being the second birthday anniversary of their website, they thought it'd be nice to have something different for sale as a bargain every hour for the twenty-four hour period, including a 4GB 4th Gen iPod Nano Chromatic for $99. Of course everyone is after a bargain, so what happens? The site gets hammered.

When I mean, hammered, I mean, think about the size of something like say.... King Kong, holding an equivalent sized sledgehammer, doing a full backswing overhead and hitting a single grain of sand against a perfect flat surface which is non-elastic. Now, that is hammered.

The sale started at midday. I tried getting on it for nearly an hour at small intervals of 5 minutes or so, and I got onto it at 12:57pm. The item had sold out. While trying to get to it, I was getting a page load error and timeouts. The same thing happened at 1pm. I didn't even get to see what was up for grabs. The nano came up at 4pm and by then, I didn't even bother. The 6pm item was unseen, the 7pm item was a Celine Dion deodourant. The 8pm is a Wii bundle, my brother managed to get onto the site, but I can't get onto it....

They claimed that they had tested their website for the expected influx of connections. I think they failed to take into account the number of people hunting for bargains. Or they just suck. Well, I guess a lot of people will be very disappointed at not getting anything from their advertisement, and annoyed at wasting their time trying to get on. I can't imagine though it'd hurt their business too badly though LOL.

ROFLOL, my brother, having loaded the screen for the deal now times out trying to log in to buy the Wii bundle.... as he said "shite". Ah, Catch of the Day, I pronounce you Fail of the Day.
