The new module in DDO (Mod 8) contains some new 'crafting' objects for the existing crafting system brought about in the previous Mods with the Shroud. But, in addition to this, they have introduced what is known as Dragontouched Armours.
The concept is fairly simple I guess, you run the sequence of pre-raid quests to be qualified to run the final 6-man 'raid' (technically, it is just a quest, since it isn't a 12 man raid), and you end up with the ability to 'craft' a set of armour.
While you run around and gather the pre-requisites to do the final quest, you pick up runes, draconic runes, and then you also pick up eldritch, tempest and sovereign runes also from the quests. With all of these objects, you then use the new alters to get a random effect onto your armour. You can see the currently known effects here at the wiki for it.
I ran through the quests with guildies, and got my armour, and then put in my runes. Each effect is a tier, and so there is three tiers, with the final one being supposedly the 'best'.
The combination I ended up with was this:
Dragontouched Robe of Greater False Life (+30hp) with Wizardary VI (+150sp, +300 for sorcerors because their sp is 2x items) and then Natural Armour Bonus +4. I am quite happy with it though the final one, the Natural Armour bonus is a little useless for me in the sense that my armour class is so poor anyway, I might as well have another effect instead like Greater Elemental Power (+100sp, which I'm not sure if it stacks but I think it does, which would become another +200sp since I'm getting the 2x on it).
To get the Sovereign rune though, you must finish the final quest to loot it from the chest, or exchance 120 Draconic runes for it, which means it might be a little while before I get to switch out my +4 Armour bonus to something else.
