Transport to Brisbane

I have a few choices to get to Brisbane for my friends engagement party in the first weekend of January. Being so close to New Years, you can imagine the logistical issues and cost of transport since people are either to or from holiday destinations and what not.

I could:

Fly
Train
Bus or
Drive.

In terms of cost, most expensive to cheapest is

Fly (~$170/each way, ~$340 return)
Bus (~$140/each way, ~$280 return)
Train (~$115/each way, ~$230 return)
Drive (~$100/each way, ~$200 return)

In terms of time wise with shortest to longest (each direction) is:

Fly (~4 hours if you count airport times in and out)
Drive (~10-12 hours depending upon driving conditions and no stoppages)
Train (~13hrs hours overnight)
Bus (~16 hours thanks to stops and non-major highway routes to pick up passengers at stops)

So, while expensive, time wise, flying is by far the most efficient method, while driving saves enough money that you could even take a pit-stop for the night in a motel if it was a leisurely drive, otherwise known as a road trip.

I was thinking, it would be nice if I could drive to Brisbane and back, at least once, since prior to my Subaru, I couldn't drive long distances without being tired or wanting to sleep at the wheel. My old car, a Rover (Honda Integra basically) was old and loud and I had difficulties driving to Newcastle (2.5 hours) without wanting to doze off. In the Subaru, it was much less tiring to drive to Canberra (3.5 hours) and was fairly comfortable. So, it would be good if I could attempt the 10-12 hour drive (not non-stop of course) up if I had a travel companion.

Now, being me, going to an engagement party alone has already happened once, back in October. It wasn't not-fun or anything like that LOL, so it definitely isn't a problem to do that again, but it would be nice to bring a date to an engagement party, and if they could be a travel companion on a road trip, that would be even better haha XD Further more, it would be useful if they could drive a manual, but I think that might be asking for too much.

I guess I will have to make a choice sooner than later since tickets tend to book out quickly these days for cheap flights, and well, they won't get any cheaper probably. Otherwise it will be the driving option, either solo, or if I can convince someone (female that is~!) to come with and meet some of my school friends, and yes, they do not have to be my significant other for this purpose.
