Early Christmas Present finally arriving late

The saga that was my camera lens has come to an end finally with the Canon 50mm f1:1.4 USM lens attached safely on my EOS 20D.

I bought it, and it was dispatched to me on Friday with a tracking number via DHL airways. I tracked it and it left Hong Kong that night and arrived in Sydney on Saturday. It cleared customs on Sunday. I waited for it on Sunday and then it told me that there was an issue and additional address information was required.

I called up DHL to discover that they failed to put my suburb nor postcode on the delivery address and this had caused my package to be delayed indefinitely. Just as well I was tracking it regularly to catch the updates. I fixed the problem and the woman told me it would be delivered on Monday.

I waited and waited to no avail and at 4:40pm I found that it told me there had been irregularities and a delay occured. I called up DHL again to discover that the woman who had processed the change on Sunday had done it incorrectly and thus the package had been stuck in the system again ~sigh~. The guy fixed it again and reassured me that I would get it Tuesday.

Tuesday, I got up early to deal with some emails and paperwork for my possible trip to New Caledonia with visa application hassles, and then just before 9am, the front door rings and hooray~ a DHL guy with my package. A little while later, it's working beautifully and amazingly fast shutter speeds.

I'll be playing with it some today and getting used to the frame size and distance I need to work at with the 50mm format. But it looks good on the camera, super awesome. haha. My reward for my PhD and Christmas this year, and also for James Engagement party in January.
