I've been watching a few "new" shows lately, old and new. The old ones are Prison Break and Supernatural while the new one is called Leverage.
I had never seen any Supernatural so I only had the basic idea that it was two guys in search for some kind of demon/ghost or something that killed their mother. I watched some of the episodes and I found it a little too formula in that they find a problem, find the source, encounter a hurdle, defeat the source. It has some light hearted moments now and then, wise-ass quips and what not but it wasn't really that great a show. For me anyway, I know lots of people love it.
Prison Break is a little more interesting for me in the level of planning and sophistication involved. While I am still only watching the first series, it does have some element of the surprised ruined in knowing that the series will keep on going on, meaning that while people are dying here and there, someone is still going to be alive to keep at it, escaping that is.
The new show I have seen some of is called Leverage. Interesting in the sense that it is like a mini Oceans 11/12/13 movie but in a series. The main character used to be a insurance investigator, who would try to turn situations around and find stolen objects etc to save the insurance company money. Insurance company rips him off by killing his son (not paying the bills) and he decides to go rogue a little. He helps out the little people against rich and powerful people, or rights "wrongs". He is joined by a merry band of con-artists, electronics/computing and other specialists to get these jobs done. It's somewhat fresh at the moment but I'll have to see how it is going on as it progressess if I get to catch any more of the episodes.
