Our television reception has been quite poor over the last few years, not just for digital television but the traditional analogue also. We fixed some of this by purchasing a signal booster and while for some of the signals we got it worked, in bad weather we would often lose two stations entirely to fuzz. Using digital wasn't much better at times and in frustration my father was considering to switch over to using satellite television so he could also watch the Japanese stations such as the NHK news.
Falling short of that idea however, he decided to boost the height of our antenna as the previous height of it was only peeking past the rooftop on our house, and being obstructed. After much back and forth to find a solution, my father eventually contacted some people to come install the new antenna he bought from Dick Smiths for a pretty cheap price of sixty dollars.
They came and installed a huge pole which lifted the new antenna clear of our roof and after tuning the stations on the digital set-top boxes in the house we now have clean crisp television. Hooray~! Not that I watch that much of it, but for my father, it is one of the small luxuries that he enjoys, so I think it was well worth it. I actually also thought satellite would be worth it too but my father was too cheap, even with the $1400 bonus that the federal government supposedly gave to him to spend....
I watched the movie The Last Castle last night without signal loss and it was great. I really like that movie too, Robert Redford is very good in that. Now I can watch even more ^_^
