Hospitals and Hospitals

I've spent quite a bit of time lately in hospitals for one or another reason, and while I won't talk about why I was at Bankstown hospital last night for seven hours, I will talk a little about other things there.

It was bit of an interesting night I guess in a way. While in the waiting room at emergency, there was some kind of psycho yelling and screaming for the nurse and banging on the doors/walls of where-ever they were down the hall somewhere. People in the waiting room were visibly distressed by hearing his screaming of "Nuuuuurrrrrrrsse!"

Later on, while we were inside the actual emergency ward area waiting for treatment, they prepared an isolation room for someone that was being escorted by police. In fact, it took eight police officers to escort this guy who had his arms cable-tied behind his back. He was swearing a lot and from the nurse chatter, they sedated him twice. Four of the police stayed in the hospital with him the entire time. Apparently he wouldn't tell them anything besides his name when they brought him in.

Other observations is that the population nearby the hospital seem to be quite "criminal" looking. The people wandering in as visitors all had that 'hardened' look, chiselled faces and the 'pock marked' cheeks with a tanned facial appearance of sorts. I'm sure they were nice people, but they have the classic "bad guy" look which no doubt can be quite daunting if they get upset or something like that.

The other people there, three were fine after getting fluids via drip (dehydration issues), one woman I have no idea what happened to her, some chick sprained her ankle, two guys with ECG issues and some girl was drunk and fell, hitting her head or something, and a guy with a stump of an arm had to get some psych evaluation.

A long night indeed.
