Purchase Frustrations, another day in the life of me

I've been after a good quality lens for a while now as some of you may know, and yesterday I had been bidding and keeping an eye out on two separate Canon 50mm f1:1.4 lenses on eBay. Unfortunately this morning I failed to win either of them, leaving me with even less time to decide on what I should do in terms of getting one for the purpose I want it for. The place that I was considering to get a brand new one from because of it's locality and ease has just bumped up their price, most likely due to inventory stocking at the weaker Australian dollar, which has led to more frustrations on my side.

Checking out the auctions on eBay and then the buy-it-now, I did find one which was from Hong Kong through DigitalRev, which is only $15 more than the brand new one here but it comes with a Hoya HMC filter which from my research would cost $29 + P&H here, so I guess it is a slightly better deal when you look at it and it even has free postage. While I didn't win the bids, the final price that the lenses went for was about $80 less than new with a hood on one auction, and with two filters on the other. The only down side is that there would be postage time from the US which may make it not get here on time perhaps. I will have to decide later today about attempting more bidding or just purchasing outright to ensure I get the lens on time.

While I haven't earnt much money this year, I've kind of kept myself afloat reasonably well without eating too much into my savings and I'm relatively proud of that. With Christmas approaching though, it is a traditionally expensive spending period, and with also a 21st birthday party tomorrow I have to go look for a Hookah today as their present. No, it isn't a hooker, it's a Hookah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hookah). Purchasing this lens, regardless as a bid or new would force me to take out money from my savings but I am of the view that good quality lenses are investments, and while this is not a L-series Canon lens (well into the $1000 and higher mark), if I look after this like my other three lenses, it will last a while to come. I guess for me it might be both a self Christmas and Graduation present haha.

Since I got up early (like 6am early) to see the end of the bid incase I was actually able to bid at my limit (which I didn't) I went for my run anyway, which was good because there wasn't as much traffic at the zebra crossing, nor pedestrian traffic at the station stairs, and I completed the 10x one step and 10x two steps routine again. I think I will stick with the 20x reps and the 500m jog for now until I settle better into it, and it does give me a very good workout on the heart. It takes about nearly 40minutes from when I leave the house to returning. Today while I was stretching after my climbing I also got sniffed by two very furry shagpile dogs that were on their morning walk LOL.

The forcast says it'll be about 26°C today, so a nice day to be out at least, not too hot at all.
