The XIX JenKeviad + Secret Tryst

Maaaaaaaan, what a long day and night it was.

The XIX JenKeviad was the title of the birthday gathering for Jen and Kev, as they were turning 19. I got up at 6:30am to catch a train into Central Station to meet up with some of the others as we had decided to get breakfast together as something nice before we all headed to the BBQ held in Centennial Park.

We met up and walked into Surry Hills to a place called Omlette and had breakfast. I had a spanish Hash (potato, chizoro, spinach and poached eggs) and a Orange/Mango/Passionfruit frappe. We had all sorts of conversation, and even touched upon the manga/movie of Ichi the Killer (movie)/ Koroshiya Ichi (manga). We stopped by a 7-11 because someone wanted a Taurine filled slurpee and then we caught the bus down Anzac Pde and into the turn to the Randwick Gates. A short walk and talk later (mainly about 419 scammers and "scambaiting") we arrived at the site where Jen and Kev had stuff going for the BBQ.

The BBQ was a bit chaotic with alot of disorganisation but in the end, I think there was quite a bit of fun to be had. Lots of people turned up for it and there was a lot of food and meat BBQ'd in the several hours. I had brought a travel chess set for the occaision and there ended up with a very sizable amount of people crammed around the set wanting to play as well as giving backseat commentary on the match going on. I was a little annoyed that they lost the little plastic packet I had with it that kept all of the peices with the board. The BBQ wrapped up at about four in the after (after a eleven morning start) and we split into a few groups to head into town for some Karaoke. This was done to prevent police thinking we were a raging mob of asians.

We met at Town Hall steps and originally tried to go to Big Echo but after they changed their mind on us regarding their discount policies, we decided to get our money back and headed to K-mix a little further down. We sang for nearly two hours before heading to Sussex Thai on Sussex Street. In Karaoke though there were some rather interesting people in their singing voices and singing abilities. Let me say that there is a lot more tone deafness than I had thought, and also that you should always try to sing in your actual register instead of your head voice or gravel rumbling (being as low as you can) if you can as you will get better singing anyway. They had a lot of fun though, even if they did massacre some classic songs LOL.

Dinner was pretty nice though the portion size was a little small for what we had to share. We had a banquet set with six people sharing. It was fairly chilli hot too. We had a chicken mushroom sour soup, stir fried basil and chilli ckicken, a red duck curry, a baramundi with lemon chilli jelly, a fried rice, and then hazelnut icecream to finish with. Oh there was also money bag and prawn cake as entree too.

After the dinner, the Secret Tryst began.

What had happened was that one of the people had arranged and booked a three bedroom apartment in the Meriton at World Square in the city. The going rate for the room was very discounted because of it being a Sunday night and they held a "party" there. The hotel/serviced apartments have a "no party" policy, and so we went up in small groups and had about twenty odd people inside where alcohol was consumed along with games and talking etc. They played poker, mahjong, Nintendo DS games, watched movies (and apparently also porn) on a laptop and also the Foxtel cable television. It was an all-nighter affair and ended after sunrise on the Monday morning and some very tired people.

I had a Bailey's with milk, a shot of Midori, a shot of Smirnoff and then a glass of red wine over the entire evening so I wasn't remotely tipsy or drunk at all and I had plenty of water too. I watched the television mainly (it was Die Hard with a Vengence, then The Score, and then CNN and other stuff on television randomly) while chatting to people etc. Someone tried to teach me on how to solve a Rubix Cube, and while I got the first section (in getting a Cross Formation), my brain didn't want to pay attention to the next bit so I told them it was ok to not try and continue to show me.

I had some Hungry Jacks for breakfast and also got a few things from Broadway for lunch on my way back to uni as I have work today (a meeting in a few minutes) and it was a nice walk back. That was my Sunday. I'll put up a link to the random photos I took from the night when I get home and upload them to my flickr.
