I bought a cheapo $8 Ritmo all-in-one card reader to use with my CFII cards that I use with my camera. Bad idea. Cheap = cheap and nasty...

One of the pins must have been misaligned because I put in one card... and it didn't work. I wasn't sure why, so I pulled it out and tried again. Still didn't work, pulled it out and tried another card. Nothing, hmm. Then I looked at the cards and oh crap. The pinholed surface was damaged and looking at the card reader, one of the pins was bent way off....

Now the cards didn't work on the reader, nor do they even fit inside my camera because it messed up the holes... Bending the pin back didn't help make the cards read either.

So there goes $40 worth of 4gb CFII cards (which now cuts my capacity to 2x4gb and 1x1gb from my original 4x4gb + 1x1gb) and the CF function on the crappy ass card reader. At least it reads SD and HCSD cards still okay. Not a great compromise though >_<

But, with the three remaining cards, and also a 4gb Microdrive that I do have, I can still take over 800 pictures in one day, and if I dump onto my netbook each day at the end of the day, it's not a big deal since I doubt I'd shoot 800 in a day on a regular basis.

Still annoying though.
