Social Gathering

I went to a gathering last night after work to a friend's house in Croydon. Traffic was pretty heavy on the way and it took me nearly forty minutes to get there (when you consider in light traffic I get home in about just under an hour and Croydon is kind of half way there). The house is a nice large terrace style building but I don't know if it actually connects to the adjacent houses. I don't think it does along the entire building length and there is evidence of extensions done to the house since it has similar step height changes through the back of the house similar to mine (where mine has had two extensions done to it).

It was medium sized gathering with about fifteen or so people contained into the kitchen and lounge room area or so, with a disproportionate amount of girls to guys, being only four guys present including myself.

Food wise, when I arrived, they were still wrapping dumplings so I pitched in and made three before the filling ran out, and then we started eating pretty much. An assorted mix of bread, a salad, dips, cheese, cake, the dumplings of course, biscuits and so on. As people turned up, so did the food bits, oh and a few boxes of maki sushi.

There was some alcohol too, I brought along a Smirnoff Red vodka and a bottle of Malibu rum, while two bottles of Baileys appeared, along with a Blue Curacaco and a Midori. There was juices and softdrink also to mix with. I had about five drinks worth of alcohol through the night so it wasn't really that much.

There was conversation, where they all thought I was much younger than I am. One guess was 19, one said 3rd year or 5th year, but the general consensus was a shock when they found out my real age LOL. There was also a PS2 going with Katamari Demarcy, Dance Dance, Burnout and then Singstar Rocks! and Singstar original.

Things kind of wound down around 11pm or so, and when they left, someone nicked off with my Malibu >_<. I wasn't particularly impressed at that but hey, what can you do? I took the remainder of the Smirnoff home and I'll bring it to the hotpot event on Saturday probably. It doesn't have a lot left, maybe about a quarter of the bottle.

It wasn't a bad night, good to get out I guess, though it was a bit strange for me since it is still highly unusual for me to be out so late on a weeknight. At least when I am "working". I got home and pretty much went to bed, no hangover or anything of the sort though when I got up, not that I was expecting it either. So that was that.

Oh, and I apparently was told that I would make an excellent house-husband because of all the things I do (cook, iron, sew etc etc) and one of the girls said I made her feel inadequate as a female haha :P
