My mother brought home several containers of stuff home from her cooking class today. Three of them were the same dish, one was another.
The two things were a carrot soup and some kind of sweet onion.
The carrot soup had rice in it, tasted similar to the white soup from the other day. There was three containers because two was made by the class, and one was made by the teaching chef. One difference between the student made and the chef was that the chef one had been blended together and had no butter in it, even though they were told to use butter.
The sweet onion dish was kind of scary actually. My mother said that they were told it could be used for things like sandwiches or something. Well, it was too sweet for me. There was 500g of brown sugar which the sliced onion was stewed in. The container size was a typical "large" takeaway container. Take that into consideration and consider how much 500g brown sugar is... it is practically brown sugar, enough water to dissolve, onion, cook. Egads, you'd get diabetes eating that stuff....
They are doing salads tomorrow apparently, so that'll be interesting to see what my mother learns....
