2nd Photoshoot Session

Popped over to Kensington/Randwick area again today for another photoshoot with Darren. Nice guy. Today I did a shoot for him as both an archer and as a fencer. I had all my gear with me and it took about four hours without break to do the whole lot.

It was a little different today in the sense that he had done more research into typical shots used in photography of the sports, and had formulated what he wanted, but he also didn't have an assistant today so there was a lot of time spent setting up the lights, adjusting and tweaking (for him) while I stood in one spot.

The results looked really good, like, really good. He used a Nikon with a 50mm 1.8 since anything lower in aperture would be too soft for portrait photography unless it was specifically to be very soft, and at one stage we had 4 lights/flash units going with multiple reflectors to get the lighting right for the shots as an archer. Lots of work, but also fabulous results.

There will be an exhibition on the 17th November at Ultimo TAFE for the 10 pictures the students have to submit each, and with Darren planning about 10-12 different subjects to be shot, to submit 1 from each sport, having 3 in there means I have a good chance that I'll be in there somewhere LOL. He didn't provide me with images yet, but hopefully if he is a man of his word, I'll get them as TIFF format, which I can do whatever I want with, except make money off them. I think that's fair enough considering the time he spent taking them in exchange for no money (when his regular services are $$ as previously mentioned).

Good fun, good experience, and good photos.
