Child Protection.
We had a lecture on Child Protection Act 1998, as it is a fundamental thing that we as teachers must follow, and are by law required to be aware of, and act appropriately within.
It is rather scarey that as teachers, we are quite vulnerable targets for attack, especially from false allegations of students that we abuse them. Even if the allegations are proved to be false, the allegation will stay with our professional records permanently..... thus tinting your record even if you were 100% innocent.
It is good though to know that if you do need to dob in abused kids to the DoCS (Department of Community Services), as a teacher, you are able to stay anonmyous, be untouchable for liable and deflamation charges, and are not required to testify in a court of law.
But, at least, teachers are allowed to touch children for purposes of comfort, or if it is to save the child from harm.....
