Spoiler Alert for Sweeny Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

I watched this movie with not much knowledge except there would be some singing and that Johnny Depp would be playing a barber out for some kind of revenge.

Well, the movie certainly lived upto that knowledge as it is quite a musical production, and he certainly gets revenge, however revenge gets its own back to him, killing his own wife but least saving his daughter from his own silver razors.

Despite the amount of gore/blood that is in this movie, it isn't so much horror as drama. It was quite sickening to watch in a way, but not as bad as I had expected it to be, still, a little queasy from the slash and splurt effects.

Johnny Depps voice is surprisingly brilliant, I don't know how much of a singer he was before the movie, nor if he received training/lessons but his performance was fantastic. The sets and costumes were also superb, absolutely fabulous. The tone and bleak gray colours of 'London' from this period most certainly fit the story well, and sets the grim tale quite well.

If you can stand the blood and enjoy the music, it is a great film. Once again supporting the fantastic abilities of Johnny Depp.
