Iron Man.

Two words.
F**king Awesome!

Oh man, it has been 4 hours since I stepped outside the cinema and I still want to go straight back in and watch it again. It has been a very very long time since I've felt that way....
People here and there have been comparing it to Transformers, but I'm sorry to say, in my humble opinion, Transformers just doesn't have the balls to beat Iron Man.

Robert Downey Jnr is brilliant in his role as Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes.

As a fan of the comic from my much younger days (~laments at his copy of Iron Man lost many many years ago~) I had much expectation from the movie when I saw the trailer on a crummy mobile phone video taken at a gaming/electronics convention last year or so. Then when the HD trailer came out, it absolutely blew my mind. Then seeing the trailer on the bigscreen when I went to see something else, oh boy, it had better be good, and well, it delivers.

Those who don't know the plot, it goes something like this.
Tony Stark, owner of Stark Industries, the worlds leading weapons manufacturer, gets taken hostage by some militants in good ole Afghanistan. He gets shrapnel in his heart, and another hostage, who is a doctor by chance, saves him by using a electromagnet to stop the worming of the shrapnel by the heart muscles from moving further inwards to kill him. He manages to escape his situation by building the first iron man suit. A chain of events following his return is pretty much the rest of the movie and let's leave it at that for those who haven't seen it yet.

The special effects, the suit designs from the comics, brilliant, fantastic, amazing. The 'technology' that Stark uses, no doubt much of it doesn't actually exist except in fantasy is also totally cool. The way the designing, prototyping, and testing is absolutely positively incredible....

Action scenes were well done, much cringing to be had though. The technology of the suit itself is also very nifty.

What can I say, I want one LOL, at least one that can be powered without having shrapnel in my heart. The Arc generator using palladium is an interesting concept, although I know no further information on how it could possibly work, but in any case, it is still an amazing 'fantastical' concept.

Definitely something to own on HD, with 5.1 if not better sound quality system.
9.5/10

Kickass as Rodney from 3DGameMan would say haha.
