I've actually been wanting to see this movie for ages, like... ages. I am a self confessed tragic of the romantic genre variety since my own relationship life is sadly dramatic and lacking in some ways LOL and it is one way of filling those gaps haha.
In this movie, a daughter of a guy (Will Hayes, played by Ryan Renyolds) who is about to be divorced learns about sexual education at school and questions her own existence since one of the boys in her class claims to be an accident. This then leads onto a tale of three women who her father was in love with as she attempts to sleuth out which one of the three (with names modified) is her actual mother.
It is a long and complicated journey starting with the political rise of ex-president Bill Clinton, through the demise of Nirvana by Kurt Cobain's death, then the fall of President Clinton with the Monica Lewinski(spelling?) affair. The three women come and go in his life in a complex weave and with each entrance and exit, even less is made clear until towards the end when Maya (played by Abigail Breslin from Little Miss Sunshine) confirms which one is her biological mother. Of course though, she has a preference on which one would also be a good mother, but she is not content with the ending of the story and decides to take the issue further.
It is a cute story, and Maya's character is delightful in the child-curiosity manner and her criticisms of fathers story and telling of it. The acting is heartfelt, and warming. Simplistic dialogue but well delivered.
8.5/10
