Spotlight

I just finished watching a series called Spotlight. Another Korean drama.

This one is about a reporter, Seo Woo Jin, who struggles to reveal the truth that is out there in the corrupted annals of politics and society as part of the society investigation team. Her job is made more difficult as she is given a lazy somewhat inept intern to look after, and the arrival of a new hard-line boss.

The series is slow to start with, as the news that they get involved with isn't anything spectacular, but once the ball gets rolling along, they discover a massive corruption case involving the nations largest construction company and the government where very large bribes and other sordid deals were done under the table. Of course, those involved in the deals begin to take their own measures to protect their interests and themselves....

The acting isn't spectacular to say of, nor the sets, but the insight into reporting, even though it is a drama, is great. In a similar way to what On Air showed for filming dramas, Spotlight shows the pains and hassles involved in news reporting as well as the potential dangers and dramas.

Not too bad a series to take onboard.
