Well, the title might be a bit strong, but thats what it feels like is building.
Today, I found out something interesting had happened in the department over the weekend. Someone, mysteriously, had come into the building on Saturday and stuck a two page letter on all the doors of the postgraduate student offices, along with leaving a copy in the pigeon hole of the head of department. For the record, it wasn't me. LOL
The letter was written anonymously by someone, who raised issues and concerns regarding how postgraduate students, especially some international postgraduate students, were being treated by some specific members of staff in the department. One complaint was specific to a named person, while others were generalised.
This person mention, even I have problems with them. I deal with them in as minimal contact as possible, as my experiences with them have also not been of the positive nature. According to the letter, they are "two-faced" seemingly nice and polite when there are staff around, but when alone with the student, they are very rude, abrupt, and just generally not a nice person at all. I fully believe this since I have had interaction with them of a similar nature, when they believed that I wasn't a member of staff, to the point where I had to show them my Staff Card to prove that I was.
Of late, the new staff in our general office are terrible. They might get the job done, but they are far from friendly, or receptive. The general office, when I started was a great place. Sure, they were busy, but they always had time to chat if you needed someone to talk to about random things happening you had to get off your mind, and there were always smiles and laughs, jokes and general good cheer. One of them left for a better position, and their replacement was nice too. Then the other left for a better position, and their replacement was nice. But then, the entire office staff changed very quickly, to three entirely new people, and now, the office is a very dead zone space in my opinion.
In any case, I was only alerted to this when one of my students told me about it and showed me the email and letter that had been sent. I suspect that they may visit 4Chan with their usage of the phrase "rage" in the letter LOL, a /b'tard in disguise. A meeting was held about it today supposedly at midday, but I haven't heard anything in regards to any results of it, so just have to see what came from it, if anything.
I have my own suspicions of who it might be... but I'll keep that to myself lol.
