The last 48 hours

Well, tonight is a Sunday and I'm sitting on a small 2 person sofa in a motel room somewhere in the mountain of Tamborine (or Mount Tamborine for those who can't get that point around their heads lol).  I have a reasonable sized room, which encludes a ensuite with shower and toilet, signed with a 4 minute warning since we have no town water here.  The view is faboulous at least, but I don't know if I'll get to see much of it at all considering the work schedule that they want to keep is a 7am start.

Rewinding time though, the events in the last 48 hours.
Saturday mornign I got up nice and early to prepare for the 2009 NSW State Championships.  I had breakfast in a leisurely fashion before heading to Lidcombe station to pick up a friend.  We then went down to the event and waited for it to start.

I helped out with being a official on the table for the juniors event (U12 and U16 events) before getting ready for my own match in the Kyu event.  I won't say too much about the Kendo event since I'll put it at my Kendo blog for more detail.  I had a pretty good day, in that it went better than expected, which is always a bonus to say the least, before going home for lunch instead of hanging around to watch the Dan events and free jigeiko.  Which turned out to be a very good idea.

Later that evening I came down pretty sick.  I had a headache and a sore throat when I finished the competition or so, which I had attributed to the competition, energy, kiai etc.  But then after I had a shower, I developed into a sense of nausea, chills and feverish sweating.  It was pretty bad compounded by the thought that I had to catch a flight on Sunday (today) for work purposes.

My parents were pretty worried, but my friend who is in St Johns First Aid told me to take 2 panadol and sleep it off, so I asked for Panadol (paracetamol) but we didn't have any, so my mum went and borrowed some from next door.  It's been years since I've taken any, and well it kind of worked.  I went to sleep under my blankets and started to sweat a bucket or so, I could feel the sweat down my arms and it was getting really drenched.  I woke up about an hour later and my parents had called a family friend who was doctor and I spoke to them on the phone, and had my temperature measured also.  Their advice was the same, but in the morning if I was still crook, to get my temp measured and if it was over 38 or 39, then it could possibly be swine flu and I shouldn't catch the flight at all.

Well, I got changed and my parents also changed my blanket because it was soaked..... had some water, then went back to sleep, when I got out of be around 10am feeling much much better.  In which, all I had was a bit of bodily ache.

So, thus I survived the evening.

The rest of today was spent making sure my packing that I did on Saturday before I came down sick, was okay, and I wasn't short of stuff.  Then waited for the taxi to come along before getting to the airport.

The flight was okay, had a Qantas flight, sat in the second back row, got a savoury scroll (tomato and olive) thingy with a multivitimin C drink before watching a show called My Family and then we landed.  There was a bit of a wait at the Avis centre for the car, and we got a Mitsubishi 380 apparently.  The boot was fairly big, but not big enough to get all of our luggage but it wasn't a problem sine there was only three of us in the car.  The drive down to Upper Coomera was fairly easy, we had a GPS unit that someone had brought along, but our driver knew the way anyway fairly well.

Checking into the moutel was fairly easy, nothing out of the ordinary.  They claim to have wireless, but I was told there was no wireless, thus why I bought some 3G wireless with Internode.  Well, I tried their wireless but I managed to connect with low/no connectivity, and lets say, I'm glad that I brought my wireless along....

Dinner was at St Bernard's next door to the motel, not connected so you can't get it added to your tab.  I wanted a pork belly confit dish, but it sold out so I got a sutffed chicken breast.  A little pricey, but didn't have much choice really since all of their dishes were all fairly pricey.  it came on a bed of cous cous with some greens, and a white wine and cheese sauce, with a cheese stuffing.  Fairly decent but the cous cous was rather bland.  We also had some wine, it was a sauvingon.  There was talk of work and other things, before we settled on the time to start tomorrow, and then we retired to our rooms, which has seen me here online lol.  It's now nearly 10pm, so I guess I should get to bed soon, going to be an interesing day tomorrow I'm sure.

Night y'all.

35C on a mercury thermo under the armpit, definitely not accurate lol
Headache was headache, no other way to describe it. It lasted from the afternoon from when I left around 12:30pm until I took the panadol at around 9:30pm.
Nope.
Fine I guess....
