Weekly Update!

Well, Sydney Weather is a mess.
Rain, sunshine, wind, rain, sunshine, rain, wind, rain, rain, rain, sun, rain....

And that is about in a 3 hour period on Friday afternoon...

Pity the buckets of water being dumped in the city doesn't make it out to the ever dropping dam levels out west... ~sigh~

Rain rain,
go away,
go fill that damn dam 100km away.

Work has been really nifty this week.
I had my users meeting with the Electron Microscope Unit, and the ball is on the move.
I've already had two sessions with the EMU, and have booked a few more next week to look at our hibiscus sprayed extract that Ben has been making. And we also have been doing some pH measurements on dispersion.

Essentially, the fibre powders clump together. And in order to spray them and pump them through the system, we have to break up the clumping. And so we are playing with pH levels and seeing what they do, as we know the extract pH is 2.75, highly acidic really.

Friggen Bush won the election.
That is just so darn depressing. ~sigh~
Just don't have the energy to bother ranting on about I think.....

As for archery, I shot in the October ranking round last weekend.
Was pretty good, shot a 904/1440. It's nothing flash, but broke my pb of 821 so I'm kind of happy.

Being doing some more shooting and still working on keeping my arm up, and getting a clean release....

It's exam week come 2 days time, and Kirsten has 8 exams.
So she'll be huddled in her house studying for two weeks. Especially since she has an exam on a Saturday for the first time (for her that is).
The worst I have ever heard of was a friend of mine, Al, who had a exam clash (two exams on the same time same day), on a SUNDAY!
Sheesh, the uni timetabling methods are so stuffed....

Been watching lots of anime.
Bleach
Mai Hime
Final Approach
Moon Phase.

Lots of good ones.
And live action episodes of the manga Gokusen.
It's really funny, basic plot is that a Yakuza family member, whose parents (now dead) were both school teachers, also decides to be a school teacher. She works at a school, but has to hide her family identity in fear of getting fired, and being exposed as Yakuza.
Very well done, as she often gets emotional and slips into Yakuza speech. The difference between normal Japanese (for how women talk) and her "gang" talk is very marked, and when she slips into "gang" talk, the vocabulary is also different (such as the pronouciation of certain words in Yakuza language is reversed. So, for example,[in english] if she says "police" in gang talk, she would pronounce it as "ecilop".....)

Got myself a dead pixel 17inch LCD through Ken.
Since he started working at BenQ computers, they can get really good stuff cheap, if it's "busted".
The dead pixel policies are if the LCD has either 1 dead pixel in a defined viewing area, or more than 4 dead pixels outside that area, the customer gets a replacement free.
However, the company now has a "dead pixel" moniter. Which, the staff can buy at base price.
So I bought one through Ken.
1 dead pixel, about 2 inches from centre of the screen. Barely noticeable unless if I have a pure white background (word or ie with no text nearby) and not noticeable when I play games or watch stuff....
It's great! At under 50% price.
Hehehehehe.

And ken picked up a 5 megapixel digital camera for a dirt cheap price because it was a "end of stock" line, ie the company is no longer importing them into Australia (because they weren't selling well), and so they were getting rid of them at like 60% market price to clear stock space in their warehouse.

Nifty nifty.
