More about Olympians LOL
You know, that now makes it 4 Olympians that I know, and I have shot with 3 of them side by side, competed directly against 1 of them, and was coached by one of them.
Four years ago, if you had said to me that I would be around Olympians in a sport, I would have said, yeah, kinda, I have played against Sarah Osvarth (the Fencer who got a wildcard entry many years ago) but brushed it off to some extent but I would have never considered being so close to, and being involved with them at such a level. This is such a fantastic thing.
Mikey Naray will be attending his first Olympics in Beijing 2008, I wish him the best of luck as a former student of his.
Lexie Feeny will also be attending (from what I know, it is unlikely her competitors to be on the team will knock her off her 1st position for selection), and I also wish Lexie the best of luck, especially since she is still studying in high school. It too will be her first Olympics.
I have also shot directly in Matchplay with Tim Cuddihy, the Athens 2004 Bronze medalist, and I lost by 52 points LOL, and I have also met and chatted with David Barnes, another Australian Archer who has been to the Olympics.
Besides those though, I have also shot with Matt Gray who will be attending his second Olympics, and as a matter of fact, my Axis riser is his one that he used at Sydney 2000 hehe. Bit of history on that bow eh. The 3rd member of the mens team is a Korean fellow who is now an Australian, Sky, he seems ok, never shot with him or spoken to him but from what I have seen he is a reasonably likable chap. The womens team is only two spots, they didn't manage to secure another through the process, and it looks like it will be Jane Waller, who I have seen, but never shot or spoken to either.
Ohh, it is so exciting!
Hahaha
